Log in to http://myfiles.bgsu.edu. Upload a file you want to share using the Upload button at the top of the screen:
Click on Browse to find the file you want to upload:
then go through the standard dialog boxes to select the file to upload. Now the file is there on myfiles.bgsu.edu:
To share a file, you first need to set up a Contact or a Group. Click the Contacts and Groups link in the left panel:
To add a single user to share files with, click Add Contact. (To add several users at once in a group, click Add Group.)
I'm adding Warren McGovern. He is a Xythos User whose ID is warrenb, the same as his bgsu.edu email address:
Clicking OK lets you confirm that you have the person you intended:
Then click Add Contact.
Now we want to share a file with warrenb. I clicked on the "Bookmark" /users/zirbel to get back to the list of my files:
Now click the Share icon next to the link to the document you want to share. It is a hand in front of a blank page.
We need to Add User/Group to get warrenb on this list:
Now we need to set permissions for the person:
This gives you pretty complete control over what kind of access the person will have. Click Apply to bring you to:
Now we have warrenb on the list, with the appropriate permissions. Click Apply just to be sure. Now the other user should be able to see the file.
