If you are a former or current student who is seeking a letter of recommendation from me, please contact me at sortiz@bgsu.edu to make your request. I gladly write for former students (yes, even ones from UF and ESU!), but I do not write for all of them.  

Most importantly, I need TIME!!  I require a minimum of a month head start in order to get your letter prepared. This used to be two weeks, but my new role as graduate coordinator keeps my days much busier than before. So, a month head start on the first request. Once I have written one letter for you, I really only need two weeks to tinker with your letter and get it out to another place. If you do not give me this time before an application deadline, recognize that I will say no.

 

If I agree to write for you, be prepared to send me the following things either as attachments or in the body of an email message:

 

 

1.       A current CV or resume.

 

2.       A statement explaining what it is you are applying for, why you want to do it, and career goals associated with it. Ideally, this will be the statement you have already prepared for graduate school or employment.

 

3.       A reminder of what classes you took with me and what papers you wrote.

 

4.       Details on where and when to send the letter.
