Well, let's take it from the top. I've always been fascinated with creativity and how you can take nothing and turn into something incredible. As a kid, my parents would always make sure I had some form of paper and crayons. While I didn't blossom into a traditional artist, I still found myself intrigued by art. After years of sitting in my room coloring poorly drawn stick figures, my Dad bought a family computer (if I recall, it was a Packard Bell). Armed with Windows 95, American Online, and a snide bearded fellow to teach me the way, I started to learn the world of computers. As the years passed, I became intrigued by how web pages were created. Eventually, services like Geocities and Homestead became available and I started creating WYSIWYG style websites. Flash forward to about two years ago (June 2007). After becoming frustrated with Dreamweaver, I went to the bookstore and picked up a copy of this book. After learning the simplicity and flexibility of writing your own code, I was hooked.
