What kinds of virtual/real work environments and cultures are produced as a result of this integration? What globalization processes result and enable further virtual/real collaborations – thus re-defining and re-structuring notions of “community”. Performing Digitally Mediated Identities and Cultures (IPC 406: Special Topics- subsequently offered as IPC 411) Fall 2003, Summer 2004, Fall 2004, Fall 2006. This course focuses on how digital media production, use and consumption shapes everyday life, practices, identities and cultures, through constitutive interpersonal and intercultural communication processes. Thus the course emphasizes race, gender, class, community, geography and other contexts in relation to identity formations that are mediated by the proliferation of digital technologies in an increasingly globalized world.
