My time as a BGSU writing center consultant (my assistantship this semester) gave me the opportunity to see the material that I wrote about in this short article on audience-appropriate language.

Wow. I have neglected this site. Sorry. This site has been enjoying a bit of traffic regardless, so I guess that the lack of new content hasn't been all bad. My time has been going into orienting myself so that my dissertation will be done next year...really. Also, I bought a PDA (Sony Clie SJ-20) that I use about a dozen times a day. It is a shame that such a robust and useful device has such a steep learning curve. I wrote a short article on the Maytag Skybox.

The winter break was great. I got the opportunity to see the great state of Texas (one of the sights was a bad elevator). Unrelatedly, I got a consumer-grade GPS. I can now appreciate the GPS to be the most exciting recent technology that become available to the average joe. Also unrelatedly, expect a 2003 NAIAS report in the near future.

Brain-Machine Interfaces is a fun paper that I wrote for a neuroscience class. The paper is about direct interfaces between the brain and man-made mechanical devices. Unrelatedly, you can view the horrible things that powerpoint did to make an html version of my poster from the Psychonomics '02 meeting. The poster is about evidence I found for numerical memory that is based on magnitude.

I am alive, but the site has not been updated. I have received my master's degree. The title of my thesis was "The Role of Magnitude-Based Representation in Memory-Based Sequence Smoothing" (click on title for a PDF). The Psychology department is keeping me busier than ever before. I have some interesting study ideas, so there may be some neat stuff up here soon.

I have posted a few of the musings that have been going through my head as of lately. I am almost done with the struggle of getting my thesis finalized, so perhaps I can get working on another full article soon. Thanks for the feedback on the site! Feel free to give more!

Mar.6.02
I slightly tweaked the site design, and I think it was for the better. Also, the car article is up and I am quite pleased with the way it turned out. Feel free to give me feedback!

Mar.4.02
Ahhh... the HTML webcode for this site is much better now. I have discovered that "layers" are frustratingly inconsistent and that "tables" are much better. Tables are WYSIWYG, layers are not. Thanks for the feedback. All pages have been redone.

Feb.26.02
Ok, so I have not gotten the NAIAS article up yet. At least the page is improving, even if it is small bit by small bit.

Feb.19.02
I really will get that NAIAS article up. There are so many good pictures that it is hard to choose. Also, it is hard to position pictures precisely using almost any web development software. Also, I am working my tail off at the psychology department right now.

Until then, enjoy the quick little article about door usability.

I have sat on this wonderful address for entirely too long... with great intentions, really. I will put up the first article soon. It is an automotive interior design critique based on the NAIAS (Detroit) 2002 Auto show.
