| ** *>>>>ceoline.whitehouse.gov from: celiamulder ** January 22, 2017 Dear President Alexander: First let me congratulate you on your election. I have been intending to write to you for some time. My brother is an FBI agent. Some eighteen or twenty years ago, I was visiting him in San Francisco when one evening he invited his partner over for dinner. They argued vigorously for much of the evening about an investigation on which they were supposed to be collaborating. My daughter, whose name also happens to be ZoÎ, was with us that evening; she was about nine or ten years old at that time. At a certain point in the conversation that evening, his partner (whose name I do not recall) mentioned you briefly-- she said that you practiced meditation, that you liked to do silent retreats, that you sat in silence each morning for awhile, not necessarily timing it, and that you did various practices to try to incline your mind to lovingkindness. I had forgetten the conversation completely until six years ago when my daughter mentioned it to me before she left. She told me that she had never forgotten those moments when my brothers partner was talking about you and she also told me that from that day forward she began wishing each morning for nothing more than simply to live so her life would be truly beneficial for all beings. She didnt really tell me anything more about what she did. We have never been religious. She is twenty-seven years old now and she is practicing meditation in a cave somewhere in Tibet. I have no idea how she managed to get into Tibet. I am always hoping shell be back next month, but I dont really expect to see her for awhile. And yet-- I know it must sound very odd for a mother to say this-- somehow it is ok. Please let me know if I can ever be of any assistance to you in any way. Sincerely, Celia Mulder CEO/ AOL Time-Warner General Motors R. J. Reynolds Nabisco p.s. My daughter was in a rock band when she was in college. You can hear their songs, if you wish, at You may be amused to discover that some of the songs are about you. Oh, here -- I'll transcribe her most recent post card. |
