These dialogues were wiretapped by Fox Mulder and his colleagues, Dana Scully and Kelly Flynt. They take place mostly in a tent in a state forest in the Cascade Mountains in eastern Washington state. The dialogues feature Zoe Alexander, a 27-year old artist from Seattle, and Joe Carson, suspected alien. During the third night, Zoe's friend, Erin Hughes, shows up. Erin is a philosophy professor at the University of Washington.

These dialogues pick up where John Perry's Personal Identity and Immortality (Hackett) leaves off. The chaplain "Miller" who was a central character in Perry's dialogue turns out to have been none other than Fox Mulder! Mulder, it seems, was a hospital chaplain before he joined the FBI and Perry was distracted or hard of hearing, mistaking "Mulder" for "Miller" when he transcribed his own tapes.

These dialogues are excerpted from The Z-Files by Marvin Belzer.
