Learning Communities open and sustain a dialogue that allows scientists to talk about teaching in a supportive and collaborative way.

Educators interested in incorporating interactive teaching and learning methods in the life sciences classroom collaborate to share our collective knowledge and classroom experiences in a learning community titled “Life Sciences Learning Community: Scientific Teaching and Curriculum Reform”.

Beyond the Biological Science Department, I also facilitate an interdisciplinary science Faculty Learning Community called “Teaching Scientifically: Bringing Active Learning to the Natural Science Classroom”. In this learning community, natural science and mathematics faculty involved in teaching introductory level science classes or large-sized classes collaborate to explore and share their teaching strategies and offer support and ideas for transforming the traditional lecture-based classroom into an interactive learning environment.
