Governance Tool

The purpose of the National Public Health Performance Standards Program (NPHPSP) is to develop measurable performance standards that public health systems and local boards of health or other governing bodies can use to ensure the delivery of the Essential Public Health Services. The NPHPSP includes three assessment instruments: In the end, this program will achieve success to the degree it serves local public health agencies. The Governance Instrument has been developed as a tool with immediate and continuing utility for local boards of health as they work to implement the Core Functions of Public Health (Assessment, Policy Development, and Assurance) within the context of the Essential Public Health Services.
