Observing the Use of Technology

The goal of this short film is to portray how technology can be used to enhance a traditional classroom. There are many ways to incorporate technology into the teaching of writing. This film focuses on the actual equipment that is used and it illustrates a simple way to use a laptop and an LCD projector to lead a lecture using the pre-written texts of the students in the class to workshop and lecture about effective thesis statements. Many teachers may choose to use technology in teaching Composition only when they are assigned a computer lab or an online class. Often times this is because setting up a computer and projector in every class, before class, is an extra hassle that teachers would rather avoid. Asking students to email their essays before class and maintaining these emails may seem like a hassle for both the teacher and the students as well; however, Dr. Catanzaro, at the University of Toledo (Ohio), incorporates technology in a way that is reliable, efficient, useful, and user-friendly for both teachers and students.
