FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol, a standard protocol by which computers talk to each other and exchange files. WS_FTP 95 LE provides a graphical interface, which is a big improvement over the older text-only FTP program. A graphical FTP program for the Macintosh is called Fetch.
After launching WS_FTP, you may choose which site to connect to for FTP.

The first time I access an FTP site, I use the New button to add a "profile" which will allow me to return to that site easily. WS_FTP comes with many preset sites, listed in alphabetical order. To make it easier to find sites I like, I assign names beginning with numbers, so they're at the top of the list.
If you need to delete a folder on a remote machine, first delete all files in the folder, then the folder itself.
Suppose I want to put the document syllabus.pdf on my web page. First, I start WS_FTP and log in to personal.bgsu.edu. I get a screen resembling this. The left column represents the files on your local machine, while the right column represents the files on personal.bgsu.edu. You may need to navigate to the folders you want using the drop down menus above each column.

I click on syllabus.pdf on the Local System, then click the arrow in the middle of the screen that points to the Remote Site. This will begin the transfer. Similarly, if I wanted to transfer files from the Remote Site to the local site, I would click a file or directory on the right and then the arrow going left. Pretty easy!
